Ground-breaking ceremony for green depot

All good things come in threes! After our two multi-award-winning depots in Stuttgart, the green depot is currently being realised in Mannheim’s Feudenheim district according to our plans developed together with Koeber Landschaftsarchitektur for GBG Sonderimmobilien GmbH. In future, the functions of Mannheim’s four depots will be brought together here. The ground-breaking ceremony was held last week.
As with the other two depots we have realised, this one is also dedicated to sustainability. The buildings are being constructed using a timber-hybrid construction method. A largely CO_2-neutral energy supply is made possible by a district heating supply and the extensive use of PV systems on the extensively greened roofs of the administration building and the workshops.
The more functional spaces, such as garages and workshops, are organised directly in the courtyard. By slightly lowering the courtyard, the roofs appear to develop out of the landscape and merge with it. At the same time, this creates a natural visual and sound barrier. Meeting places, such as the canteen and changing rooms, are in turn designed to be clearly visible.
