Our design for the competition “Weiterentwicklung Nördliche Bahnstadt Ravensburg” was awarded recognition in the second phase.
Due to its central location, Ravensburg’s Bahnstadt plays an important role in the future urban development of Swabian Nuremberg. However, the district is currently characterized by large-scale retail and commercial areas without attractive first floor zones, above-ground parking spaces, infrastructure buildings, shunting areas and forbidding traffic areas.
The guiding principle of our design is therefore to counter these shortcomings with a robust development concept that shows the gradual transformation of the northern Bahnstadt district from the main railway station to Bleicherstrasse and on to the city boundary with Weingarten. Appropriately developed existing buildings in combination with moderate structural additions and high-quality open spaces complete the transformation from the Northern Bahnstadt to the Vibrant Bahnstadt.
