Topping-out ceremony for the Green Depot in Mannheim
December 2025
Another milestone has been reached: the shell and roof structure of the Green Depot in Mannheim have been completed. After construction began in the summer, the topping-out ceremony was celebrated at the beginning of December. Where a year ago, before the ground-breaking ceremony, there was still an excavation pit on the three-hectare site, today the individual buildings of the new ensemble on the Spinelli site are clearly visible: in addition to the four-storey administration building and the three workshops, garages, parking areas and washing halls are being built on behalf of GBG Sonderimmobilien GmbH.
The reason why the new depot is described as green became clear at the topping-out ceremony: not only is it already clear where the green roofs and the resulting accessible meadows will be located, but the hybrid timber construction was also particularly evident in the completed shell and roof structure. The administration building, for example, consists of wood-concrete composite ceiling elements, timber-framed exterior walls with pre-assembled window elements, and supports and beams made of construction beech.

Groundbreaking ceremony for Panoramabad Pforzheim
November 2025
The date for the groundbreaking ceremony for the Panoramabad Pforzheim proved to be fortunate in two respects: although scheduled for mid-November, this Wednesday saw neither snow nor rain, but rather bright sunshine and temperatures almost suitable for outdoor swimming. However, it will be some time before the outdoor pool and the new indoor pool with sauna area on the Wartberg can actually be used.
Another important step in this direction, and this is the second point, took place on the evening before the ground-breaking ceremony: the local council approved the development plan. That is why, on the occasion of the symbolic ground-breaking ceremony, Mayor Peter Boch not only received a spade engraved with a silhouette from our managing director Dimitrios Kogios. Building Mayor Tobias Volle was also able to ceremoniously present the partial building permit. In his speech, he spoke of a ‘bath that will set new standards beyond the city with its architecture, functionality and sustainability’. We are looking forward to the coming months and the start of construction in the spring. Many thanks to all those involved in the planning for their constructive and trusting cooperation.

House of Tourism at the Architecture Quartet
November 2025
On Thursday, the Ludwigsburg Architecture Quartet, organized by the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects, took place for the 49th time. The idea: selected projects from the Stuttgart area are discussed publicly and in front of a large audience by four well-known figures from the worlds of architecture and culture. This time on the podium: Amber Sayah, Zvonko Turkali, Sara Dahme, and Hans-Jürgen Breuning. In addition to the Hölderlinhaus Nürtingen by Aldinger Architekten and the Kunstgebäude Stuttgart by blocher partners, the Haus des Tourismus was also discussed.
First, the quartet spent the morning and afternoon on site to get their own impression of the projects and were given a tour of the buildings before discussing them on stage at the Musikhalle Ludwigsburg in the evening. We are delighted with the positive feedback and, above all, the special recognition given to the urban integration and our approach to the existing buildings. Kick-off Open citizen participation B14
October 2025
On Friday evening, the kick-off event for the B14 Open Citizen Participation initiative took place at the StadtPalais Stuttgart. The focus was on questions such as how we want to use newly acquired spaces, what is needed to make everyone feel comfortable, and how we can tackle this opportunity together.
In addition to speeches by Mayor Peter Pätzold and others, and a presentation by Prof. Steffen de Rudder from the Bauhaus University Weimar, Cem Arat, Markus Weismann, and Jochen Koeber presented the current state of planning. Afterwards, attendees had the opportunity to interact with our nine-meter-long model and talk to numerous experts to learn more and discuss the project.
In the run-up to the public event, selected citizens (e.g., residents) were also involved. The citizen participation process was designed by Planbar Hochdrei. Two further open citizen participation events will take place before the framework plan is finalized.
