The House of Tourism is part of the IBA’27 network!

August 2025

We are delighted that the House of Tourism has been accepted into the IBA’27 network. In addition to the IBA projects, the IBA’27 network brings together a wide variety of forward-looking projects from the Stuttgart urban region that deal with the future of building, living and working. The prerequisites for acceptance are ambitious sustainability goals and the courage to experiment.

With the transformation of the former Breitling fashion house, we have succeeded in consistently preserving the existing structure and developing it into a vibrant urban building block with a new programme combining gastronomy, tourist information and working environments.
However, the most significant decision for the design was the clear commitment to consistent preservation of the existing structure. This alone enabled us to reduce CO2 emissions by around 30% compared to a completely new building constructed using conventional methods. The major challenge was to harmonise the complex structures of the old building, which had grown over many years, with today’s requirements and to extend it constructively using wood. This required a new understanding of integral cooperation, both in planning and in execution on the construction site.
