WE WANT THE NECKAR!

April 2026

The goal of the 2043 Federal Horticultural Show is to transform the Neckar region between Esslingen, Stuttgart, and Ludwigsburg into a productive river landscape. The foundation for this is a feasibility study commissioned by the Stuttgart Region Association, which is intended to help develop conceptual approaches.

We are thrilled that the concept we developed together with Agency Apero, Koeber Landscape Architecture, and Geitz & Partner won over the jury in the two-stage pitch process and that we were awarded the contract!

This is how our concept envisions connecting the region in a new way via the Neckar River. We plan to take advantage of the region’s unique topography—with its steep slopes and basin-like areas—to facilitate connections, provide cooling, and enable swimming. Existing projects in Stuttgart, Esslingen, and Ludwigsburg will be linked together through “blue islands” and “green peaks”—strategic catalysts.
