Successful Days at the polis Convention 2026

We’ve just wrapped up two eventful days at the polis Convention 2026 at Areal Böhler. On May 6 and 7, this year’s convention focused entirely on current challenges and future trends in urban, architectural, and real estate development.

Following the official opening by Prof. Dr. Johannes Busmann, Ina Scharrenbach, Aygül Özkan, and Reiner Nagel, there were numerous engaging panel discussions, presentations, and debates on the future of our cities. Among the key topics were the “construction boom” and the question of how AI and data are fundamentally transforming the planning and development of urban spaces.

asp Architekten was also present at the convention:
The Wendlerfabrik in Reutlingen was featured as the key visual on the convention stage and was thus part of this year’s presentation at the polis Convention.

A particular highlight was the presentation of the 2026 polis Award on Wednesday evening. At the ceremony, asp Architekten was awarded first place in the “Revitalized Centers” category for its “House of Tourism” project. This award represents a special achievement for our entire team and served as a fitting conclusion to the first day of the event.

On Thursday, our CEO Markus Weismann also took the stage as a panelist. During the panel discussion titled “Reindustrialization—A Source of Energy for a Vibrant, Productive City,” he joined other experts in discussing new production and land-use concepts, as well as the opportunities that the return of urban industry offers for sustainable and resilient urban development.
