Spatial experience in layers
A vacant store in the base of the Stuttgart Tagblatt Tower was renovated and converted into a customer center for Stadtwerke Stuttgart. It was crucial for the energy provider to be present in the city. The interior design was developed from the outside in and composed like layers of a landscape. A bold choice of colours and materials has succeeded in strengthening the perception of the various foregrounds and backgrounds.

Innovation and Swabian Tradition
In just four months and with an extremely tight budget, a spatial concept was implemented that reflects what Stuttgart’s public utilities are all about: Swabian down-to-earthness and proximity to the people as well as progressiveness, high quality, and ecological awareness. To cut costs the existing structures and elements were used and integrated into the new design.

High quality and ecological awareness
The memorable design of the walls with a variety of views in and out divides the interior into zones: Differently dimensioned wall sections in shades of white, blue, green, and yellow alternate with oak walls. A backlit lamella structure, also made of oak, and installed in front of some of the coloured walls, leads customers into and through the space. The colour scheme and the targeted use of the newly installed LED lighting in combination with the partially twisted lamellas create a dynamic depth effect. The careful detailing of furniture and paneling reflects the attitude of Stadtwerke in dealing with its customers.
